Lagoon Day 2011.

Saturday was Spillman Lagoon Day.  We have had horrible heat and rainstorms in years past, but this year was absolutely perfect.  It wasn’t hot and it wasn’t cold.  There weren’t many lines and for some rides the kids just got off and got right back on.  The best part of the day was that both Kade and Jaxson were on their best behavior.  We didn’t have one meltdown from either of them all day long.  We probably shouldn’t have, but we put Jaxson on all the fast rides when we first got there.  Kade picked the first ride to be The Bat.  Then we rode Bombora, then the egg and ladybug drops.  Jaxson suffered through the first two but he hated the ladybug drop.  When he got off he told us he wanted to go home.  We took him on the little swings and the whole time he kept telling us he was done and wanted to go home.

Even though he wasn’t liking the rides he was a trooper and still didn’t cry.  We took a break and went to lunch.  Kade and Jaxson both sat down and ate their hotdogs.  This never happens, we usually have to threaten and cajole to get them to eat anything.  I told Kris as we were all sitting there eating happily that this is what being in a regular family must feel like.

Spillman gives the kids a prize every year and this year it was Silly Bands.  I told Kade he could get three but they had card tables full of them so we let him go pick as many as he wanted.  It was funny to watch all the kids go up and come back with their hands full but Kade would go up pick one, bring it back, go up pick another, and on and on.  He was very selective.

After lunch we went to the slower rides so Jaxson didn’t have to suffer anymore.  We went on the little Tiki boat where I could hold on to him and while he didn’t seem to enjoy it he didn’t ask to go home afterwards.  Kade then took Jaxson on all the little kid rides and Jaxson decided that he liked Lagoon after all.

I was a little nervous because this was his first big roller coaster but I shouldn’t have been.  He loved it and we went on it five time throughout the day.  Kris sat in front of us the second time we went and took this video of Kade’s face.  It is so funny how pure terror can change so fast to excitement.

On the rides he hasn’t gone on before he tells me that I have to hold on to him tight because he, “doesn’t know this ride.”  The second time on the roller coaster I asked him if I needed to hold on to him and he just told me no thanks.  It’s pretty sad how quickly I become unneeded now days.

While we were going up the hill for the white roller coaster we saw the people riding the Spider.  Kade decided we were going to ride that next and I told him I didn’t like that ride so I would have to close my eyes.  He told me that he had a secret but that he would only tell me when we got on the Spider.  That was the only line we waited in all day.  While waiting we read a sign that said no single riders so I was pretty excited that I didn’t have to ride.  Kade was sad though because he likes to ride with me best.  Unfortunately when we got to the ride there was a spare person in another group so I had to go.  Kade was very excited that he got to ride with mom.  I didn’t do a good job holding on tight though, and he kept telling me to open my eyes when he wasn’t giggling.  After we got off I told him he forgot to tell me his secret.  He laughed and said I was going to tell you that the cars spin but not until we got on the ride.

I shouldn’t be worried about Kade on scary rides.  He knows what will scare him or not.  We were walking past Colossus and when he saw the loop de loops he said, “No way; never.”  He also said that about the Rocket Re-Entry ride.  He also went on the Mouse Trap a couple times with his dad.  Mom doesn’t like that ride either.  I asked him if he liked it and he laughed and said that dad made funny noises when he got squished on the corners.  Kris said he just laughed the whole time.  Maybe next year he’ll try Colossus.

The video is awesome. I am very impressed that Kris could even take it! Normal family? A normal family is when the kids are crying. But it is awesome when they don't!!!

A normal family? Man I want one! I think my kids are getting worse and that doesn't make mama happy!

I haven't taken my kids to Lagoon ever, but they look like they have new rides, maybe we'll have to give it a shot! Looks like for the most part you had a fun day!
