During the weeks leading up to Jaxson’s birthday I would ask him what he wanted, the only thing he ever said was a Mario cake. He helped me pick the icing image on the computer and Grandma turned it into an adorable cake.
Jaxson took a tiny nap while Grandma made his cake. When he woke up I took him over to see it and he wanted the toys. I told him he couldn’t have them until we sang happy birthday and blew out the candles. This of course made him cry yet again. We decided to wait to blow out candles until he was in a better mood but that didn’t seem very likely. Kade had been excited to eat the paragoomba so he was sad.
I decided that we were just going to do it because it was getting late and Jaxson wasn’t getting any more pleasant. When we sat down Kade said that maybe we could just sing happy birthday really quiet so Jaxson couldn’t hear us.
We sang to him and I told him that as soon as he blew out the candles he could have the toys so he finally did it. We cheered and asked him if he wanted to do it again.
I told him we wouldn’t sing and he ended up blowing out the candles quite a few times. I had to help him because if it didn’t go out he would start to cry again.
When he was done he started to eat the icing as I took the toys off for him.
Kade finally got to eat the paragoomba.
Jaxson decided to eat Mario and Yoshi. He ate Yoshi’s nose and Mario’s hat and then he was done.
We couldn’t believe after the difficult day we had with him that we would end the day with such a cute smile.
Kade’s worst year was when he was three. We are hoping that Jaxson was just having a bad day and this is not a sign of what’s to come. The next day he wasn’t as bad so we will keep our fingers crossed.

So far Grace's worst year was 3 too, but she's 4 1/2 now, so we're still holding our breath too...
Love the cake!
